OUR

MISSION

At Roanoke Christian Camp we are dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming space where people can forge meaningful relationships with one another and cultivate a deeper, more profound connection with God. We strive to:

  • Create spaces for worship and discipleship where hearts are transformed

  • Equip the next generation to serve and lead

  • Foster connections between families and their local churches

  • Providing support and resources for ministry leaders

There is one God existing in three forms, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit who is the creator and sustainer of the universe.

The Bible is the Holy inspired and inerrant word of God.

Jesus is God's one and only son, who lived a sinless life yet took on our sins, died on the cross, and conquered death when he rose from the grave, ascended into heaven, and will come again.

Forgiveness of our sins and salvation are for all who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, repent of their sins, profess their faith, and are baptized. Our salvation is by grace through faith, not by works.

HISTORY

Founded in 1945, Roanoke Christian Camp was established by the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ to provide a summer ministry for children. After operating at Bath School for two summers, the camp secured a permanent home along the Pamlico River in 1948, thanks to the leadership of Frank Leggett and the generosity of First Christian Church in Washington, North Carolina. This land became the foundation for the camp’s mission of fostering faith and community.

Over the years, the camp expanded with new facilities, including dormitories, a dining hall, and a multi-purpose building. A swimming pool was added in 1990, enhancing recreational opportunities. Leadership transitions, including the appointment of the camp’s first full-time manager in 1988, have further strengthened its programs and infrastructure.

In addition to summer camps, Roanoke Christian Camp also offers facility rentals for retreats, conference and other events.

Today, Roanoke Christian Camp continues to impact countless lives through worship, fellowship, and recreation. With a commitment to providing a welcoming, Christ-centered space, the camp remains a place where young people grow in faith, build lifelong friendships, and develop a deeper relationship with Jesus.
